Pure Titanium Metallurgy & B2B Sourcing Glossary

Essential metallurgical, manufacturing, and international trade definitions for corporate procurement officers and technical product directors.

Grade 1 (TA1) Pure Titanium

Commercially pure titanium with ≥99.7% purity and lowest interstitial oxygen content. Features highest elongation (>24%), making it the premier grade for 0.45mm deep-drawn food containers.

Grade 2 (TA2) Pure Titanium

Workhorse commercially pure titanium offering balanced yield strength (345โ€“480 MPa) and corrosion resistance. Ideal for vacuum tumbler outer shells and rigid camp pots.

TC4 (Grade 5 / Ti-6Al-4V)

Aerospace titanium alloy containing 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium. Possesses extreme tensile strength (>895 MPa). Used for tactical pens, knife locks, and heavy-duty EDC tools.

Micro-Arc Oxidation (MAO)

An electrochemical surface ceramicization technology that converts the titanium surface into a dense ceramic oxide film, serving as an inert bonding layer for non-stick ceramic coatings without PTFE.

Argon Vacuum Glovebox Welding

Welding process conducted inside a hermetically sealed chamber purged with 99.999% high-purity argon gas to prevent atmospheric nitrogen and oxygen from embrittling hot titanium.

Mill Test Certificate (MTC)

An EN 10204 3.1 certified document detailing the chemical composition and mechanical tensile properties of the raw titanium batch, proving zero scrap contamination.
